Free and Easy
One of the really Great developments on the Web has been the availability of New Free True Type Fonts. There is a great Site called Creamundo.com. You can choose from a huge range of Free Fonts a great deal of which are new and exciting.
Once you choose a Font and Download it you must install the Font into windows. You do this by choosing Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Fonts. Once inside the Fonts folder choose File > Install New Font from the main menu. Now you have installed your new Font you are ready to work.
You can use your new font in any Windows application but to create the effects shown in the Images I use Inkscape. Inkscape is a Free Vector Drawing program released under the Open Source licence. You can Download a copy of Inkscape Here along with lots of other great Open Source Software. I have also a dedicated Site to training Inkscape for Free Here.
Once you have Installed Inkscape Use the Text Tool to create some text using the New Font you have just installed. Once you have Typed your word choose Path > Object to Path from the main menu and then choose Object > Ungroup from the main menu. You can then Use the Edit Paths by Nodes Tool to change the individual letters to customize them. You can also move each letter separately and arrange them to create a more balanced design.
This is a great way of creating custom Logos and effectively changes Text to Artwork. I have written a Hub especially on using the new release version on Inkscape to produce great 3D effects like the Top Image. Once you have mastered these techniques you can Download a Font and create a Custom artwork in a very short space of time. The new type faces give you new ideas and keep the creative juices flowing.
Cheers - Happy Fonting

Nice page... very artistic. Wish to have more images to make it specific on how to do it by my own.
